Guitar Lessons
Not at all — complete beginners are very welcome. Lessons are tailored to where you are right now, whether that's holding a guitar for the first time or picking it back up after years away. There's no assumed knowledge.
Lessons cover electric and acoustic guitar across a wide range of styles — rock, blues, pop, and general technique. If you want to work towards Rockschool grades, that's covered too. The focus is always on what you actually want to play, not a fixed curriculum.
All ages are welcome. The Junior Starter session (30 minutes, £20) is designed for younger beginners who benefit from shorter, focused lessons. Adult beginners and advanced players are equally welcome. An Enhanced DBS check is in place for all teaching involving under-18s.
For regular lessons, yes — having your own instrument to practise on at home makes a real difference to progress. If you're unsure what to buy as a beginner, that's a great topic to cover in a first lesson. Guitar appraisal and advice is also available as part of the guitar services.
Current available slots are:

If a student is unwell, please give as much notice as possible. Genuine illness is treated sympathetically and lessons are rescheduled wherever possible. Full terms are on the booking terms page.

Yes. BoxTone Studio holds £10 million public liability insurance underwritten by Aviva through the Musicians' Union. The equipment itself is also insured. Any damage arising from wilful misuse or negligence by the client or their guests may be recharged at the cost of repair or replacement.
Recording & Voiceover
It's a purpose-built, acoustically treated home studio in Ware, Hertfordshire. Equipment includes a Shure SM7B (the industry standard for voiceover and vocals), Lewitt LCT 440 Pure large-diaphragm condenser, a matched pair of Lewitt LCT 040 small-diaphragm condensers for stereo and acoustic work, and a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 interface. Everything is run through Logic Pro on an Apple M4 Mac Mini.
For location work, a portable rig built around the RME Babyface Pro FS is available.
The studio is suited to commercial, corporate, audiobook, podcast, and e-learning voiceover content. Sessions are recorded in the acoustically treated studio and delivered as broadcast-ready files or raw stems — whichever works best for your production workflow.
Voiceover recording starts from £40 per hour.
Yes. Musician demo recording is available from £150 and is particularly well suited to singer-songwriters, auditions, and social content. Guitar, vocals, and acoustic instruments can all be captured with professional microphones and mixed in Logic Pro.
It's also worth knowing that the engineer is an active gigging musician with 35 years of experience — so the session is shaped by someone who understands how music should sound, not just how to operate a DAW.
Yes — podcast recording, editing, and post-production is available from £25 per hour. Sessions are delivered clean and consistent, ready to publish. Whether you need a one-off recording or ongoing production support, get in touch to discuss what would suit you.
Finished files are delivered within 5 working days of the session unless a different timeline has been agreed in advance. A backup copy is retained for 30 days following delivery.
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure the booking. The remaining balance is due on the day of the session before work begins. Sessions booked by the hour — any overrun will be charged at the standard hourly rate, subject to availability.
Guitar Services
A full setup covers action, intonation, truss rod adjustment, and nut and saddle work — everything needed to get your guitar playing as it should. Setups start from £70. If you've never had your guitar set up professionally, the difference is often significant.
Yes. A full refret service is available from £300, which restores playability and can significantly extend the life of a well-used instrument. If you're unsure whether a refret is needed, the appraisal service (£50) can give you an honest assessment before committing to the work.
That's exactly what the appraisal service is for. For £50, you get an honest, knowledgeable assessment of a guitar's condition, playability, and value — useful whether you're buying, selling, or just want to know what you've got. Advice comes from someone who plays, not just someone who measures.
Yes — electronics, wiring, pickup installation, jack sockets, and general repairs are all covered under the guitar tech service. Most jobs are completed the same day. Pricing is on application depending on the work required; get in touch with details and a quote can be provided.
Most setup and repair work is completed within 5 working days. An estimated completion date will be given at the time of drop-off. For guitar tech jobs (electronics, wiring, jack sockets), most work is completed the same day.
Instruments should be collected within 14 days of completion.
Always. Where possible a fixed price is agreed before work begins. For more complex repairs, an estimate is provided upfront. If anything unexpected comes up during the work, you'll be contacted before any additional charges are made. No surprises.
